The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), Dr. Ndagi Al-Hassan, has applauded Crescent University, Abeokuta, for its consistent excellence in nursing education and pledged the Council’s continued support for the institution’s programme.
Dr. Al-Hassan gave the commendation during the maiden induction and swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 graduating set of nurses held at the Bola Ajibola Auditorium of the university.
Expressing delight at the institution’s achievements, the Registrar noted that Crescent University had distinguished itself through “rigorous academic standards and excellent performance” in the Council’s professional examinations.
“I am very impressed by the outstanding record of Crescent University. For six consecutive times, your nursing students have achieved 100 percent success in the RN, RM, and Public Health examinations. That is no small feat, and we are proud of you,” Al-Hassan said.
He pledged to offer every possible institutional and regulatory support to ensure the continuous growth of the university’s Nursing programme.
“The Council will do everything within its capacity to assist Crescent University in sustaining and expanding this legacy of excellence,” he assured.
The Registrar also lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, for providing strong leadership and an enabling environment for professional training in nursing, describing the university as a “model of private tertiary education with a strong moral and academic foundation.”
In his remarks, Prof. Gbajabiamila paid tribute to the university’s founder, the late Judge of the International Court of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola, SAN, whom he described as a visionary who invested deeply in human capital development.
“Prince Bola Ajibola established Crescent University not just as an academic institution but as a moral compass for future leaders. Today’s success in our Nursing Department is a reflection of his enduring vision,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
The Head of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Ademola Shafiu, expressed pride in the achievements of the graduating students, noting that they would now carry the professional titles of Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), Public Health Nurse (PHN), and Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) after their convocation ceremony slated for October 18, 2025.
“Our students have worked hard and proven themselves. They are worthy ambassadors of this university and of the nursing profession,” Shafiu said.
The ceremony also featured the administration of the Nurses’ Pledge to the newly inducted graduates, conducted officially by Dr. Al-Hassan.
Present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rasaki Kareem; Registrar, Barr. Zakariyya Ajibola; University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam; and Bursar, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Ogunmefun, FCA.
