The Ogun State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Ismail Adewale, popularly known as Yaro, has called on the Federal Government and aviation authorities to exercise leniency in the ongoing dispute between Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (K1 De Ultimate), and ValueJet Airlines.
In a statement on Monday, Yaro appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, and ValueJet CEO, Kunle Soname, to “temper justice with mercy” in the matter.
Quoting the popular maxim, “to err is human, but to forgive is divine,” the transport union leader noted that everyone is prone to mistakes.
He urged the NCAA boss to consider lifting the ban placed on K1 De Ultimate, stressing that the musician’s health and contractual obligations to clients could be adversely affected by the sanction.
Yaro also pleaded for the reinstatement of flight licenses for the affected aircraft pilot, Oluranti Ogoyi, and other individuals involved in the incident, insisting that atonement had already been made.
“It is time to forgive and move on,” he said, adding that reconciliation would be in the interest of all parties concerned.
