The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW)  and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Ogun State on Monday, declared a total support for the second term ambition of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun

.

The transport unions at their separate secretariats on Monday directed their members in the state to vote for Abiodun in the coming election.

Both NURTW and RTEAN said they have resolved to throw their weight behind the re-election bid of Abiodun, who they described as a friend of the unions.

Rising from their meetings held in Abeokuta, both the chairman of the RTEAN, Akibu Titilayo, popularly known as “Efele” and that of the NURTW ,Alhaji Ismail Mustapha said the performances of the governor prompted to take the action.

In his remarks, Akibu said the RTEAN had chosen Abiodun as its candidate and was ready to ensure he wins the second term .

Akibu called on members of his union to cast their votes for Abiodun and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Also speaking at the event held at the union’s secretariat, the secretary of the union, Tiwalade Akingbade charged his members to obey the position of the union on the choice of Abiodun .

He however warned members against violence and other acts capable of distrupting the peace of the state.

He commended the governor for implementing a strategic master plan for the transportation industry, which according to him has revolutionized the transport system in the state.

“Let us maintain peace wherever we are. Let us talk to our people that we have endorsed the second term bid of governor Dapo Abiodun for continuity because of many things he has done in the transport sector.

“For example, he (Abiodun) created the Ministry of Transportation, the first of its kind since 1976 since Ogun state was created. The strategic master plan for transport, the agro-cargo airport and the introduction of metro buses for commercial purposes, these are the reasons we are endorsing him.

“The most important thing is for us to maintain peace wherever we are, don’t let us engage in violence, don’t let us engage in conflict with anybody.”

At his secretariat , NURTW chairman who addressed his teaming members of the union said the union has resolved to go the way of Abiodun for many reasons .

According to Mustapha ,popularly called Yaro, the governor is a listening governor, he has promised to allow the union operate in the state once he is re elected .

Mustapha added that the union decided to throw it’s weight behind Abiodun due to his good works and what the union stands to benefit from his continued government .

He said “I implore you all to go out all out to vote for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming election.

“No member of the union must vote otherwise . We should all vote for Dapo Abiodun and ensure he wins .

“Everyone must win his polling unit and show the evidence of the victory .

“I can assure you that after the election, on Tuesday , we will come back here and celebrate the re election of the governor.”
