Defending Champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League,(NWFL), Bayelsa Queens FC, have said they are confident of retaining the title after defeating FC Robo of Lagos 1-0 at the Stephen Keshi international stadium, Asaba, Delta state.
Spoke shortly after the final whistle, Bayelsa state commissioner, Daniel Igbakpa said their readiness for the competition is proof that their team is winning and retaining the title.
He added,” We are the current Champion, and we have the confidence that the preparations we had, the mindset of the girls and the current state of Bayelsa, the readiness to welcome them back with the trophy, they will not disappoint us”.
He noted that the match between Bayelsa Queen and Rivers Angels on Friday will be a tight one; however, the team will put in their best elements to proceed to the final, we are very optimistic that Bayelsa Queen will retain the title.
He maintained, “I have a lot of trust in the team, they always find ways to win; I have the confidence they will, the state governor has a personal interest in them”.
