Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that, despite his advanced age, he remains committed to maintaining his fitness by playing squash three times a week.

The 87-year-old elder statesman made this known in a video posted by Noire TV on Friday, August 9, 2024.

In the video, Obasanjo was seen walking briskly with his hands behind his back, accompanied by a male companion who expressed amazement at his vitality.

The companion, evidently impressed, remarked, “Old soldier never dies. Oh my goodness!” to which Obasanjo humorously responded, “They only fade away.”

Obasanjo then shared, “I still play squash three times a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.”.

This display of fitness was further acknowledged by political economist and former presidential candidate, Professor Pat Utomi.

Utomi  greeted Obasanjo with a warm, “You are looking sporty again.”

The video also captured a moment where a foreign admirer approached Obasanjo for a quick selfie.

“Sir, can I get a quick picture with you, please?” the man asked as he hurried to keep pace with the former president.

In another instance, when offered help with his brown leather bag, Obasanjo declined, insisting, “No. Leave it for me.”

This isn’t the first time Obasanjo’s fitness routine has caught public attention.

In March 2024, a video of him surfaced online during his visit to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.

After exchanging pleasantries with the governor, Obasanjo was seen jumping on a treadmill, briefly exercising before stepping off with ease.
