For the first time since return to democracy, former President Olusegun Obasanjo is out of Nigeria on elections day.
PLATFORM TIMES reporter observed that there was no sign of the former president at his ward 11, Zone 6, Polling Unit 22 in Abeokuta North Local Government.
Upon request, Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, told PLATFORMTIMES that Obasanjo had travelled out of the country 10 days before the election.
Akinyemi in a phone interview said Obasanjo was billed to return a day before the election.
“Chief Obasanjo had traveled 10 days ago to India, US and, UK. He was was supposed to return back to the country yesterday March 17 but for some reasons not disclosed could not return.”
Recall that the former President lost his polling unit during the Presidential election to APC.
Obasanjo had endorsed Labour Party’s Peter Obi who emerged second runner up in the Presidential election.
