OGSG Unveils Procedures For CNG Vehicle Conversion

In a move aimed at reducing transportation costs and enhancing accessibility, the Ogun State Government has outlined a step-by-step process for converting vehicles powered by Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines.

Speaking in Abeokuta, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, detailed the conversion process, which involves three stages: pre-inspection by Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS) in collaboration with technicians at conversion centers, approval for computerized vehicle inspection, and final conversion and certification on-site by the Conversion Manager.

“The two conversion centers are Nigeria Gas Transport Solution Ltd (NGTSL), located at Ogun State Public Works Agency, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, and NEXT GEN Ltd, at 37, Olorunsogo, Abiola Way, Abeokuta,” he said.

He further highlighted the locations of the gas refilling stations: Green Fuel along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Obada, Abeokuta; Gasco Marine, Abeokuta; and Nioco Gas, Mowe/Ibafo on the Sagamu-Lagos Expressway.

Dairo encouraged vehicle owners to reach out to the Director of Vehicle Inspection Services, Engr. Gboyega Ademehin, via telephone at 08033959239 or email at Dir_vis@ogunstate.gov.ng for further details and assistance.

In addition to the CNG conversion initiative, the Commissioner also identified locations where batteries for electric bikes provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration can be recharged at affordable rates.

These locations include MKO Abiola Stadium in Kuto, Skating Ground in Panseke, opposite Fatgbems Filling Station in Oke-Sokori, Enu-Gada, Ramada Filling Station in Asero, Carry Go at Rounder, and the Ogun State Public Works Agency premises in Agbeloba, Abeokuta.

The state government’s efforts to promote sustainable and cost-effective transportation are expected to benefit residents while addressing environmental concerns.
