Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun Central Senatorial District have unequivocally distanced themselves from the “Egba Agenda,” emphasizing their commitment to party unity and electoral success across the state.
Speaking at a year-end gathering in Abeokuta, the State, Chairman of the party, Abayomi Tella, Deputy State Chairman of the PDP Chief Abiodun Ogunremi, the Secretary, Hon Sunday Solarin, and Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman Hon Jamiu Keshinro dismissed claims of an Egba ethnic preference within the party’s leadership.
In his remarks, Ogunremi said “The clamour for an Egba indigene to occupy the number one seat in the state is an aberration,” Chief Ogunremi declared.
“PDP has no such agenda. Our focus is on ensuring the emergence of the best candidates from all parts of Ogun State.”
Highlighting the party’s strategic goals, Chief Ogunremi outlined plans for a comprehensive electoral sweep in 2027, aiming to secure all 40 elective positions within the Senatorial District.
“Today’s gathering sends a clear message: Ogun PDP Central Senatorial leaders are dedicated to the progress and unity of our party,” he affirmed.
“We categorically reject any notion of the ‘Egba Agenda’ and remain steadfast in our pursuit of party-wide success.”
Echoing his sentiments, Tella, the Secretary Hon Sunday Solarin, and Ogun Central Senatorial Chairman Hon Jamiu Keshinro urged party members at all levels to prioritize unity and cohesion.
“We must set aside differences and focus on expanding our party’s base,” emphasized, Tella.
“Our success in 2027 depends on our collective effort to win every polling booth across Ogun State.”
The leaders further called for steadfastness and diligence among party faithfuls in preparation for the upcoming polls, underscoring the importance of recruiting new members to bolster PDP’s strength.
We need every member actively engaged in our mission to secure victory in 2027,” stated Hon Solarin. “Together, we will build a stronger, more inclusive PDP that serves the interests of all Ogun State residents.”
