A leading chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olootu Bolaji Adeniji, has declared that Ogun State stands to witness an era of unprecedented transformation if Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola emerges as governor in the 2027 election.
Adeniji, who is also the Convener of the Ogun West Initiative, made this assertion during an interactive session with select journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) press centre in Abeokuta, the state capital, at the weekend.
He said the lawmaker, popularly known as “Yayi” and currently representing Ogun West Senatorial District, possesses a rare combination of vision, legislative excellence, and grassroots engagement that positions him as the most competent successor to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“Without mincing words, Senator Adeola has proven himself to be a transformational leader,” Adeniji stated. “In just two years, he has delivered massive social and economic dividends across Ogun West.
“His interventions have touched every ward—spanning education, healthcare, roads, and empowerment—showing a clear passion and commitment to the people’s welfare.”
Adeniji noted that Senator Adeola’s plans for Ogun State, if elected governor, include a strategic urban renewal agenda, aggressive infrastructural expansion in rural and border towns, and massive investment in human capital development.
He explained, “One of the senator’s most compelling visions is ensuring that no child walks more than 30 minutes to access quality education or primary healthcare. Schools and health centres will be fully equipped, affordable, and within reach.”
On economic growth, the APC stalwart said Adeola’s administration would unlock the state’s industrial potential through agro-allied investments, particularly in cocoa cultivation and export, as well as harnessing limestone and asphalt for infrastructure development.
He added that the state’s ambition to become an oil-producing region via the exploration of the Tongeji Island Basin would gain traction under the senator’s leadership.
Reacting to concerns about the state’s financial constraints and debt profile, Adeniji argued that Adeola’s background as a chartered accountant and former finance committee chairman in the National Assembly gives him the unique edge to manage public resources efficiently.
“Yayi understands the numbers. He will revamp Ogun’s tax system to boost transparency and efficiency, reprioritize spending for better impact, and attract private sector investments through robust PPP models,” he said.
Adeniji, therefore, urged members of the APC and residents across the state to rally behind Senator Adeola’s candidacy, describing him as the only aspirant capable of taking Ogun to its next developmental phase.
“My appeal is simple: let us give Yayi the platform to expand his midas touch across Ogun State. He is not only delivering in Ogun West but holds the key to unlocking the full potential of the Gateway State,” Adeniji concluded.
