Ogun State is set to host a two-day Employment Conference in collaboration with the German Government through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
This was announced by the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Olu Ola Aikulola on Tuesday.
According to him, the two-day event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, and Thursday, October 12, 2023, aims to address critical employment and job creation issues within the state.
He disclosed that the conference would be held at the prestigious Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, commencing at 9:00 AM daily.
In his words, the conference, with the theme “Addressing Employment and Job Creation in Ogun State – Tapping into the Global and Local Opportunities,” is expected to bring together key players from the organized private sector, labor market actors, youth representatives, and other relevant stakeholders.
He stressed that their collective mission is to deliberate on sector-specific challenges and opportunities, all with the overarching goal of enhancing employment prospects for the state’s youth.
He, therefore, said the event will be formally inaugurated by the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, adding that numerous other high-ranking government officials will be in attendance to contribute their expertise and insights.
Inviting job seekers and the general public, he said they can participate in the event by joining virtually via the Zoom network.
