A Corps Member serving in Ogun State, Akorede Jaiyeola has published an English Language textbook ‘Parts of Speech: Simplified & Amplified’, for all career prospects.
Akorede, in an interview with PLATFORM TIMES, explained that the book was published to aid effective expression in English language.
The young author disclosed that his experience as an English teacher prompted him to write the book.
He explained that the book has relevance to all spheres and discipline of life as English language remains a generally accepted language of communication.
“The book, ‘Parts of Speech: Simplified & Amplified’ is designed to solve syntactic problems for English language users.
“English language is a general language everyone must learn. As a teacher of the Language, I discovered that everyone wants to communicate and without having a sound knowledge of the basic knowledge of the language, one would have a problem communicating.
“The basics of the language is the ‘parts of speech’ and this is what holds the English language. My observation of the communication problems for most people is what prompted me into publishing the book.
“Those who studied French; the science students; every higher institution and career prospects must know the basics of the English language, and these are the parts of speech.”
Furthermore, Akorede explained that the book has both general and specific target audience despite its ability to serve all career prospects.
He explained that the students of secondary schools are the main audience while the general public of English language users are the general target audience.
He said, “The main target audience is the secondary school students, starting from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School”.
“The general target audience refers to the general users of the English language. Everyone who uses the language must learn the basics.” He submitted.
In an effort to further impact lives through the textbook, Akorede revealed to PLATFORM TIMES how he approached the state Ministry of Education for evaluation and recommendation of the textbook to secondary school students.
He revealed that the director of book curriculum development and evaluation appreciated the modest effort and assured him that the book would be recommended for secondary schools comes 2025, according to the Ogun State Education Policy.
He said, “A proposal for the book was taken to the State Ministry of Education, Oke-Mosan for evaluation to be considered for recommendation for secondary schools in Ogun State.
“I met with the Directorate of Curriculum Development and Book Evaluation and I was told that the State Commissioner for Education appreciated the book and would like to consider approving it for recommendation for secondary school students.
“I was informed however, that the book would be recommended for secondary school education according to the Ogun state education policy which comes up every three years. Hence, the book would be recommended to secondary school students by 2025.” Akorede revealed.
