The Customs Area Controller of Ogun I Area Command, Comptroller M. S. Shuaib, has urged approximately 60 newly promoted officers and men of the command to embrace exemplary leadership, remain dedicated to their duties, and commit to continuous learning in their new roles.
He gave this charge on Wednesday at the decoration ceremony of the newly promoted officers held in Idiroko, Ogun State.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that about 60 officers and men were promoted to various ranks in recognition of their professionalism, integrity, and outstanding service to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
In his address, made available by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Hammed Oloyede, Shuaib emphasized that promotion comes with greater responsibility and urged the officers to see it as a call to higher service.
“Leadership is not just about ranks; it is about influence, guidance, and the ability to inspire others to excel. Lead by example and be a source of motivation to your colleagues,” he advised.
He further stressed the importance of upholding the core mandates of the NCS, which include revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation, noting that these are crucial to Nigeria’s economic growth and security.
