Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has called on the Ministry of Environment and its agencies, including the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), to strengthen collaboration for more effective policy implementation.
Salako-Oyedele made the call at the 2025 Management Retreat held in Abeokuta, with the theme “Streamlining Policy Implementation Objectives and Goals in Environmental Governance.”
She emphasized the importance of aligning environmental policies with national and global sustainability goals and urged the agencies to assess their progress, identify areas for improvement, and innovate in addressing environmental challenges.
The Deputy Governor described the retreat as a critical step in shaping the future of environmental governance in Ogun State.
She urged participants to reaffirm their commitment to excellence, accountability, and sustainability in managing the state’s environment.

He urged civil servants to master the Public Service Rules to ensure smooth operations in the state’s civil service.
Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Ola Oresanya, highlighted OGEPA’s 75% success rate in regulating industries and facilities, noting that the Ministry aims to surpass this achievement in 2025.
He promised to continue monitoring and mitigating environmental pollution through sustainable initiatives.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Sam Oyeleye, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring environmental safety, particularly in handling hazardous materials, and announced plans to collaborate with international partners to streamline policy goals.
Special Advisers to the Governor, including Hon. Faruk Akintunde (OGEPA), Hon. Abayomi Hunye (OGWAMA), and Prince Femi Akinwunmi (Flood and Erosion Control), lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for his efforts in keeping Ogun State at the forefront of environmental leadership.
They also noted the partnership with Wecyclers Organization to promote recycling, which would create jobs and boost the state’s revenue.
In his lecture, Professor Dele Odunlami, Dean of the Social Faculty at Olabisi Onabanjo University, addressed key environmental challenges in the state, including climate change, pollution, and waste management.
