Ogun FIBAN Commiserates With NUJ Over Death Of Ex- Correspondent Chapel Chairman, Wale Adewumi

The Ogun State Chapter of the Freelance and Independent Broadcaster Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has expressed its condolences to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Council following the passing of Comrade Wale Adewumi, the former Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel of the union.

Adewumi reportedly passed away on Monday after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication in journalism. 

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the state capital, and signed by FIBAN Chairman Comrade Aderoju Adejare, the association,said his  death has cast a shadow over the media community in Ogun State and beyond.

Adejare said the association extended its heartfelt sympathies to both the NUJ and the family of the deceased. 

Comrade Adejare highlighted Adewumi’s significant contributions to journalism, emphasising his role as a seasoned journalist known for his high level of professionalism and leadership.

“Comrade Wale Adewumi was a paragon of journalistic excellence, a responsive leader, and a person of exceptional character and humility,”Adejare remarked. 

“His death is a profound loss to the media industry, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and worked with him.”

The statement also stressed  the irreplaceable void Adewumi’s death has created within the journalism fraternity, stressing the widespread respect and admiration he garnered throughout his career.

 Adejare called upon the Almighty to grant Adewumi eternal rest and to provide comfort and fortitude to his family and colleagues in the pen profession as they navigate this challenging period.
