Members of the Ogun Nigeria Immigration Service and Civil Defence Applicants Alliance have appealed to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, expressing concerns about perceived unfairness in the recent recruitment process conducted nationwide by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
In a letter titled “URGENT APPEAL REGARDING OGUN STATE APPLICANTS RECRUITMENT INTO THE NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE AND CIVIL DEFENCE,” the applicants expressed their concerns over the recruitment process for Nigeria Immigration Service and Civil Defence positions.
The letter, penned with respect and concern, highlights alleged irregularities in the final stages of recruitment that have left many deserving candidates from Ogun State feeling marginalized and disheartened.
The letter reads, “We have observed with dismay that a considerable number of deserving candidates who successfully passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and the physical screening exercise have not been invited for the final stage, which involves the collection of appointment letters in Abuja.
“It is disheartening to hear that these opportunities might have been redirected to a select few individuals, leaving the majority of us aspiring candidates who invested our time, effort, and resources feeling marginalized and disheartened.
“It saddens us to note that, despite fulfilling all the necessary requirements, none of us were considered as successful applicants from the state out of the 136 slots which are supposed to be allocated to the State.”
The applicants appeal to the governor to use his esteemed office to advocate for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process, ensuring that deserving candidates are not overlooked.
They also call for the promotion of a transparent and unbiased selection process, where merit is the sole criterion for selection, upholding the principles of fairness and equality.
“We implore you, Ogun State Governor, to thoroughly investigate this matter. We seek your intervention to ensure that justice is served and that the recruitment process is conducted transparently and without bias.
“We have faith in your commitment to upholding the principles of good governance and fairness.”
