In response to the prevailing economic challenges in the country, the Ogun State Government has commenced the distribution of rice palliatives to alleviate the hardship faced by its residents.

The distribution, which began on Friday, targets Muslim faithful observing the holy month of Ramadan.

Some  bags of rice were allocated to mosques across the state, including prominent ones like Kobiti Central Mosque, Secretariat Central Mosque, and Sa’adatul Abadiyya Mosque in Abeokuta.

The atmosphere at the Secretariat Mosque during the distribution was filled with joy and excitement as Muslims gathered for the Jumat prayer.

Addressing the congregation on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, expressed gratitude for the continuous support and prayers of the Muslim community since the inception of the administration in 2019.

She urged them to sustain their support for a successful second term tenure.

“The prayers and support of the Muslim community have been instrumental in sustaining this administration.

Governor Abiodun deeply appreciates your contributions, and I urge you to accept this gift with open hearts,” she stated.

Salako-Oyedele also called on the congregants to uphold moral values during Ramadan and beyond.

Mrs. Atoke Adebisi Ogunseun, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her appreciation to Governor Abiodun, praying for divine guidance and wisdom for him to lead the state to greater heights.

At Kobiti Central Mosque, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people.

He assured of more palliative distributions while urging citizens to use the Ramadan period for fervent prayers for the nation’s peace and progress.

Beneficiaries like Mr. Musbau Abiola and Mrs. Mulikat Folarin expressed gratitude for the palliative and pledged continuous support for the government.

Chief Imam of Sa’adatul Abadiyya Organisation of Nigeria National Mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Ismail, lauded Governor Abiodun’s welfare initiatives, emphasizing the significant impact of the food palliative on many households.

In response, beneficiary Akeem Durowoju commended the governor for his care for the people, echoing sentiments of appreciation shared by Alhaja Taiwo Akinwande and Alhaja Kudirat Jimoh, who described the palliative distribution as a commendable initiative.
