The League of Imams and Alfas (Raabittah), Ogun State, has charged the state’s 2025 Hajj contingent to uphold the highest standards of discipline, devotion, and integrity as they embark on the sacred pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
In a statement signed by its Secretary General, Alhaji Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi, the President General of the League, Shaykh Sikirullahi Babalola, extended heartfelt felicitations to all intending pilgrims, describing the Hajj as a divine journey that demands spiritual consciousness and moral uprightness.
“As the Ogun State contingent departs in batches for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, we remind them that this is not just a trip—it is a spiritual rebirth,” Shaykh Babalola said.
“Pilgrims must submit to the will of Allah, embody Islamic values, and represent Ogun State and Nigeria with honour.”
The religious leader emphasized that Hajj is far more than a ritual obligation, quoting Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as saying that a pilgrim who avoids sin, quarrels, and immoral conduct returns from Hajj as sinless as a newborn.
He called on the pilgrims to show patience amid the physical demands of the pilgrimage, advising them to avoid arguments, obscenity, and distractions such as idle photography.
“Every word and action is being accounted for. Let your time be filled with remembrance of Allah, du’a, and reflection,” he urged.
Shaykh Babalola also stressed the importance of adhering strictly to the rules of Saudi authorities, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
“Disobedience can disrupt your own Hajj and that of others. Help one another and respect fellow pilgrims from all nations,” he said.
He reminded pilgrims that they are ambassadors of their faith, country, and state. “Let the story told of Ogun State pilgrims be one of discipline, decency, and devotion. Do not engage in any act that may bring shame to our people.”
The League also urged the pilgrims to pray for Nigeria’s progress, Ogun State’s prosperity, and peace across the land during the rites in the Holy Land.
While addressing the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the League called on its members to view their duties as a sacred trust and not a bureaucratic formality.
“You are custodians of Allah’s guests. Treat them with fairness, compassion, and dignity. Avoid favoritism and personal interests,” the statement added.
The League expressed gratitude to the Ogun State Government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Pilgrims Welfare Committee, NAHCON, and all Hajj facilitators for their efforts to ensure a seamless Hajj operation for the state’s pilgrims.
“May Allah reward all those who have contributed to this noble cause and return our pilgrims safely, renewed in faith, and committed to the path of righteousness,” the statement concluded.
