The League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State has declared its full backing for the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, amid the controversy trailing the conduct of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

In a strong-worded letter addressed to the JAMB boss and signed by the Secretary General of the League, Alhaji Tajudeen Mustapha Adewunmi, the religious leaders lauded Oloyede’s “principled leadership” and “unshakable integrity,” which they described as a beacon of hope in Nigeria’s troubled educational landscape.

“We are with you. Allah is with you,” the statement began, affirming the clerics’ “solidarity and unflinching support” for Oloyede and the examination body he leads.

The League commended the Registrar’s handling of the recent public discourse surrounding the UTME, noting that his insistence on due process and accountability has been consistent with his record of transformative leadership and reform-oriented governance.

“Your attitude and conduct, both in public service and private life, are praiseworthy and have become a source of pride to the entire Muslim community,” the clerics stated.

They further praised Oloyede’s administration for entrenching transparency, discipline, and prudent management in JAMB operations, while urging him not to be discouraged by the current wave of criticisms and operational challenges.

“You have consistently proven yourself to be a man of deep faith, discipline, and trustworthiness. These values resonate deeply with the principles of Islam and the moral compass we uphold as custodians of ethical standards,” the League said.

While acknowledging the grievances of candidates affected by hitches in the 2025 UTME process, the religious body commended JAMB’s efforts to correct anomalies and forestall future reoccurrence, describing the intervention as “timely and reassuring.”

They also assured Oloyede of continuous spiritual support, vowing to uphold him in prayers as he strives to safeguard the credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary admission system.

“Remain resolute in the noble path you have chosen. May Almighty Allah reward your sacrifices for the nation and grant you enduring success in all your endeavours,” the League concluded.
