The Ogun State chapter of the Labour Party has extended its congratulations to the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, on his recent victory at the Court of Appeal, which reaffirmed his position as the leader of the party.
In a statement signed by the chapter’s Publicity Secretary, Tokunbo Peters, and issued in Abeokuta on Sunday, the party described the court judgment as a triumph for the Labour Party and a testament to the principles of truth, justice, and the rule of law.
“The Appeal Court judgment is not just a victory for Barrister Julius Abure but for the entire Labour Party.
It reflects the party’s commitment to fairness, integrity, and democratic ideals,” the statement read.
The party commended Barrister Abure for his steadfast dedication to upholding the Labour Party’s constitution and for his inspiring leadership, which has contributed to the growth and unity of the party.
“We have absolute confidence in Barrister Abure’s ability to guide the Labour Party to greater heights. Under his leadership, the party will continue to thrive as a beacon of hope and progress for Nigerians,” Peters stated.
Acknowledging the internal strife that has plagued the party in recent times, the Ogun Labour Party urged Abure to extend an olive branch to those who sought to unseat him through undemocratic means.
The chapter called for the immediate convening of a reconciliation meeting involving the National Working Committee, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
“This fence-mending meeting is crucial to healing the divisions within the party and strategizing for the 2027 general elections. The Labour Party must present a united front to rescue Nigerians from the grip of hunger, poverty, and bad governance,” the statement urged.
Reflecting on the damage caused by internal disputes, the Ogun Labour Party emphasized the urgency of rebuilding trust and unity within its ranks.
“The divisions and setbacks we have experienced must serve as lessons. Now is the time for all factions to unite for the greater purpose of salvaging Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
The appeal for unity underscores the party’s readiness to move past its challenges and focus on fulfilling its mandate to Nigerians.
