The Alaperu of Iperu Remo,Ogun State, Oba Idowu Basipo has passed on at the age of 67 at the Babcock hospital.

PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that the Kabiyesi’s death comes exactly one year after that of his beloved wife, Olori Kehinde Idowu Basibo-Odoru, further deepening the grief in the community.
Oba Basibo, a revered figure in the town, was reportedly preparing to celebrate his 68th birthday on March 13, 2025, when death struck, leaving the people of Iperu Remo in shock and sorrow.
His passing has disrupted the town, especially as it marks another significant loss for the royal family, which is still grieving the death of the queen a year earlier.
Sources close to the palace have confirmed the death, but it has not yet been officially announced by local authorities.
Despite this, the mood in Iperu Remo is one of deep sadness and apprehension, as residents are bracing for the onset of traditional rites that follow the death of a monarch.
One of the major rites is the Oro festival, a sacred cultural practice that mandates all women in the community to stay indoors until the rites are completed.
