The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations has congratulated the government and people of the state on the celebration of its 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as a testament to Ogun’s resilience, growth and leadership trajectory.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Mr Kunle Olayeni, the body commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for steering the state into its Golden Jubilee and laying foundations for sustained development.
The institute said since its creation on February 3, 1976, Ogun had evolved into one of Nigeria’s most progressive states, leveraging its human and natural resources to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth.
“Ogun State has consistently risen above challenges, carving a niche as the education capital of Nigeria and a hub of industry, culture and creativity,” the statement read.
The NIPR also applauded past leaders for their roles in shaping the state’s development and hailed residents for their resilience, industry and unity, which it said had positioned Ogun as a model of progress.
According to the institute, under Abiodun’s administration, Ogun has emerged as one of the most business-friendly states in the country, attracting manufacturing, logistics, real estate and technology investments, with over 6,000 manufacturing firms and several industrial clusters operating across the state.
It added that the government’s infrastructure drive, which has seen more than 1,000 roads constructed and rehabilitated since 2019, had strengthened Ogun’s role as a regional economic connector, with many of the projects being commissioned as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The NIPR further noted the state’s improved internally generated revenue performance, saying it had reduced dependence on federal allocations and enhanced development planning.
The institute expressed optimism about Ogun’s future, citing recent oil discoveries in two locations and ongoing large-scale projects as indicators of greater prosperity ahead.
“As we celebrate this Golden Jubilee, we do so not as separate communities but as one family bound by shared heritage and destiny,” the statement said.
It urged residents and stakeholders to sustain unity and collective commitment to the state’s progress, while wishing Ogun continued growth and prosperity.
