The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has hailed a recent court judgment affirming its right to conduct internal affairs, including party congresses.
The judgment, delivered by Hon. Justice A.J. Adeyemi of the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, dismissed a legal challenge (Case No. FHC/AB/CS/124/2024) against the party’s processes.
In a press statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Arc. Kayode Adebayo on Monday, the party expressed gratitude to Justice Adeyemi for upholding principles of internal democracy and reinforcing party administration standards.
The ruling, according to PDP Ogun State, confirmed the judiciary’s commitment to fairness and legality in political governance.
“We congratulate our State Working Committee under the leadership of Alh. Hon. Abayomi Tella and all party executives for their resilience throughout this legal process,” the statement read.
Emphasizing the inclusivity of the victory, the party extended an olive branch to dissenting members, urging them to join forces ahead of upcoming elections.
The statement called for unity among party faithfuls to tackle what it described as the “unpardonable incompetence” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by Mr. Dapo Abiodun.
“We call on Alh. Dr. Sikirulahi Olawale Ogundele and his associates to embrace the reality of this outcome,” the statement continued, urging them to align with the PDP’s renewed vision to restore governance in Ogun State.
The statement reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusivity and progress, stating, “The umbrella is big enough to accommodate all legitimate interests. Together, we shall dislodge the rudderless APC from power.”
The PDP Ogun State expressed confidence that the court victory marks a pivotal moment in its journey towards reclaiming political leadership in the state, calling on supporters to celebrate the collective achievement.
