Engr. Abolore Sirajudeen Ayodeji, popularly known as ASA, on Tuesday officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State.
Ayodeji was received into the ruling party at Ward 11, Kenta, by prominent APC leaders including the Ward Chairman, Chief Ridwan Odesanya; member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Alhaji Muideen Shoremekun; former Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to ex-Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Alhaji Moshood Akinyele (aka Americo); and Hon. Dolapo Ajala, a ward leader, among others.
While presenting the party symbol to the new entrant, Shoremekun described Ayodeji as a “valuable asset” to the APC, assuring him of equal treatment despite being a new member.
Other leaders at the ceremony equally commended his decision, expressing optimism that his presence would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists shortly after his declaration, Ayodeji said his decision to dump the PDP for the APC was inspired by what he described as the “giant strides” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the areas of economic reforms, foreign investments, infrastructural development and youth empowerment.
He said, “Today marks a very important milestone in my political career. I officially declare for the All Progressives Congress here in Abeokuta South, Ward 11, Kenta.
The question people may ask is why the APC? The answer is simple. The progress being recorded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is visible to all.”
According to him, even PDP leaders in the South-West had acknowledged Tinubu’s achievements, with some openly declaring support for his 2027 re-election bid.
Ayodeji added, “There is no good or bad party; it is the people and leaders who make the difference.
“My expectation is that President Tinubu will do even more in his second term. That is why I am bringing my resources, my energy and my people to support his ambition for 2027.”
The declaration was witnessed by party members, supporters and residents who cheered the defection.
