The crucial role of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Hajj operations in the Ogun State cannot be overemphasized towards ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ajibola Taiwo, stated this during a visit to the agency’s State Command, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta on Friday.

Taiwo, while appreciating the agency’s support in the successful implementation of previous Hajj operations, explained that the visit was to inform the agency of the commencement of the 2025 Hajj.

The Board also sought sustenance on the enlightenment programmes on prohibited foods and drugs, as well as profiling of pilgrims before embarking on the holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

Responding, State Commander of the NDLEA, Commander Tijani Rabe, commended the efforts of the Board in promoting the well-being of pilgrims both in the state and in the Holyland.

He noted that the visit was a way of strategizing and strengthening the bond between both agencies and assured the Board that it would not relent in carrying out its statutory functions where necessary.
