The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday, clashed with a group of kidnappers, resulting in the death of five assailants and the rescue of Tunde Osifowokan, the farm manager at Flourishing Poultry Farm in Idowa, Odogbolu Local Government area.

The dramatic incident  occurred when armed assailants, numbering about eight, stormed the poultry farm and abducted  Tunde Osifowokan, the younger sibling of the farm’s owner.

The kidnappers, masked and heavily armed, initially sought information on the farm owner’s whereabouts.

Upon learning that Osifowokan was related to their primary target, they swiftly seized him amidst a barrage of gunfire.

Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, disclosed that law enforcement had been relentlessly pursuing the armed gang since the abduction occurred.

He added that their pursuit culminated in a predawn raid at the kidnappers’ hideout in Odogbolu forest along the Sagamu-Benin expressway.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that a fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the neutralization of five kidnappers, while the remaining perpetrators managed to evade capture, sustaining gunshot wounds in the process.

According to Alamutu, the exhibits recovered from the deceased kidnappers were a substantial sum of cash, suspected to be part of the ransom collected, a sword, cellphones, narcotics, charms, and ammunition shells.

Tunde Osifowokan was freed unhurt  from his captors’ clutches.

He added that the  bodies of the slain kidnappers were transported to a local hospital morgue for autopsy procedures.

Commissioner Alamutu emphasized the command’s unwavering commitment to apprehending all fugitive suspects, cautioning would-be criminals against underestimating the resolve of law enforcement in the state.
