In a bid to enhance connectivity and boost agricultural trade, the Ogun State government has embarked on a substantial infrastructure development initiative.

Contracts totaling 209.7 kilometers have been awarded for the construction and upgrading of rural roads spanning the state’s nine federal constituencies.

Under the auspices of the Ogun State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (OG-RAAMP), the initiative also includes the remodeling of three pivotal markets across the state’s senatorial districts: Ogun Central, Ogun East, and Ogun West.

The selected road projects include the upgrading of key routes such as Olugbo-Oluga-Sipe-Ogbagba in Ogun Central, Isamuro-Okenugbo in Ago-Iwoye area of Ijebu North for Ogun East, and Agosasa-Idolorisa and Ijofin Bode Ase in Ogun West.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that these efforts are aimed at improving access and infrastructure essential for local communities, particularly those historically underserved.

OG-RAAMP, a collaborative effort backed by the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, leverages a tripartite financing mechanism involving the State Government, the World Bank, and the French Development Agency (AFD).

Engr. Adejumo, the State Project Coordinator, emphasized the project’s commitment to quality and community benefit, stating, “These contracts mark a pivotal moment for rural development in Ogun State.

“ Under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, we are extending sustainable development to communities long neglected.”

Moreover, the initiative extends beyond road construction to include the revitalization of local markets crucial to agricultural trade.

Markets earmarked for remodeling include Oja-Odan, Makun Omi, and Kila, strategically located across the state to enhance economic activities and support local commerce.

Local leaders, such as Chief Niyi Adeleye, the Bale of Okenugbo, have expressed unwavering support for OG-RAAMP, pledging community collaboration to ensure project success.

“Our communities are ready to fully support the project, offering local expertise and manpower to contribute to its timely completion,” Chief Adeleye affirmed.
