The Forum of Retired Administrative Officers in Ogun State has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening unity, welfare, and post-retirement engagement among its members, pledging to sustain the legacy of administrative excellence within the state civil service.
Speaking at the Forum’s first general meeting following its maiden triennial congress, held at its Secretariat, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the Chairman, Alhaji Sefiu Rasheed, urged members to remain committed to the organisation’s ideals of fostering unity, promoting welfare, and preserving the legacy of administrative officers in Ogun State.
Rasheed, who led the newly elected pioneer officers, highlighted key initiatives aimed at improving members’ well-being, including regular welfare visits, knowledge-enriching seminars, and the establishment of dedicated office hours at the Forum’s Secretariat.
He disclosed that arrangements were underway for the production of identity cards for all registered members, adding that a part-time officer would henceforth attend to members’ needs every Monday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
“Our activities are geared towards promoting love, friendship, and mutual understanding among members while ensuring that the welfare of all retired administrative officers — whether former Permanent Secretaries or others — remains our top priority,” Rasheed said.
As part of efforts to improve members’ health and financial literacy, representatives of the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme were present to register interested members, while a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr. Yomi Bajela, delivered a lecture on Light Business Ventures Befitting Retired Personnel.
Bajela, in his presentation, encouraged retirees to engage in sustainable small-scale enterprises that could provide both income and a sense of purpose after years of public service.
The meeting also featured goodwill messages from prominent elders of the Forum.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees, Elder Sola Adeyemi, enjoined members to be more dedicated to the “geometrical progression” of the group, while Chief Jide Oyenuga, another elder, urged the executive to intensify mobilisation efforts to attract more members.
Members later participated in a social session that featured recreational activities such as Ludo, Whot, Chess, and Snake and Ladder — part of the Forum’s effort to promote relaxation and social bonding among retirees.
The event, which was held in a convivial atmosphere, marked a significant step toward consolidating the Forum’s organisational structure and reaffirming its mission of unity, welfare, and continued relevance in the state’s administrative community.
