The Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries in Ogun State has announced plans to launch the second edition of
its publication titled “Our Legacy, Our Pride – 50 Years of Monumental Achievements in the Ogun State Civil/Public Service (1976–2026)”.
The book launch is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, with proceedings billed to commence at 10:00 a.m.
According to a statement issued in Abeokuta by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Otunba Abiodun Awere, the publication forms part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ogun State.
Awere noted that the book chronicles key milestones, landmark achievements, and defining moments in the state’s civil and public service over the past five decades, spanning from 1976 to 2026.
He added that the publication places special emphasis on socio-economic and infrastructural developments recorded between 2016 and 2026, particularly under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“The book serves as a vital historical document capturing the evolution, growth, and achievements of the Ogun State Civil Service, while preserving its core values, ethics, and traditions for future generations,” the statement read.
The association disclosed that Governor Abiodun will attend the event as the Chief Guest of Honour, while a former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, is expected to chair the occasion.
Also billed to grace the ceremony is businessman and philanthropist, Sir Kessington Adebutu, who will serve as the Chief Launcher, alongside Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who is expected to feature as Co-Launcher.
The book reviewer for the event is a former Head of Service in Oyo State, Alhaji Tajudeen Olasunkanmi Aremu.
The association explained that it was established in 1999 by retired top civil servants to promote the preservation of institutional memory and uphold the traditions of the public service.
It added that the first edition of the book was launched on March 29, 2016, to commemorate the state’s 40th anniversary.
The group described the forthcoming launch as a significant milestone in documenting the contributions of the Ogun State Civil Service to governance and development since the state’s creation in 1976.
