    Ogun Set To Host Landmark Horticulturists Conference, Award Ceremony

    The Ogun State government has announced that it will host the 16th National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Institute of Landscape Horticulturists (NILH) from November 20th to 24th, 2023.

    The event, which is organized by the Ogun State Chapter of the NILH, will take place at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

    According to a statement released on Saturday by the Chairperson and Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee, Mrs. O.V. Idowu and Mr. Hem Donatus respectively, the conference will provide a platform for the convergence of green enthusiasts, professionals, and pioneers in the field of landscape horticulture.

    Also, the statement said that the conference will feature presentations, discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities for the participants.

    According to the statement, during the opening ceremony of the conference, which would hold on Tuesday, November 21st, different categories of awards will be conferred on the Ogun State government.

    It added that distinguished personalities, and institutions that have significantly contributed to the practice and development of landscape horticulture in Nigeria will also be awarded.

    Some of the awardees include Babcock University, Ilishan; Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro; Federal College of Education, Osiele; Augustine University, Ilara; and former Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.

    The statement stressed that a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, Areno Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, will grace the event as the Special Guest of Honour, while Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, will serve as the Chairman of the occasion.

    The NILH is a professional body that promotes the advancement of landscape horticulture in Nigeria through education, research, advocacy, and collaboration.
