The Ogun State Government says it is determined to build strong industrial hubs across the state.
The government said the reason was due to the vision of its founding fathers and striving to surpass the achievements of previous administrations.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, revealed this during a meeting with members of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) on Wednesday.
The NIPSS delegation, composed of participants from the Senior Executive Course 45, 2023, was visiting the state as part of a study tour.
Talabi emphasized that the ongoing reorganization of the state-owned industrial hubs and clusters would bolster economic growth, particularly by improving accessibility to urban centers, markets, and other strategic economic areas.
He highlighted the significant financial support provided to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the state, with over N4 billion disbursed over the past four years to approximately 10,000 entrepreneurs through various empowerment programs.
According to him, The state government is actively seeking partnerships to further develop small and medium-scale enterprises and stimulate economic activities in diverse sectors while also fostering export opportunities for foreign earnings.
Talabi said: “This effort of our administration towards aggressive industrialization is strictly guided by an inherent developmental philosophy of ISEYA mantra, as entrenched in our distinct Agenda, which is Building Our Future Together.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Olu Aikulola highlighted the government’s initiatives and policies in the industrial sector, which have garnered recognition and accolades for the present administration as the best state in policy formulation.
Ogun State is at the forefront of agricultural development, and its special Agro-industrial Processing Zone (SPAPZ) focuses on concentrated agro-processing activities in areas with high agricultural potential. Aikulola added.
He described, NIPSS, renowned as a leading center for reflection, research, and learning, serves as the nation’s foremost policy think-tank, nurturing highly capable technocrats with strong intellectual capacity.
A senior official from the Institute, Brigadier General Sylvester Oloyede commended the warm reception provided by the state government to the visiting delegation.
He also praised the government’s remarkable achievements in various developmental areas, particularly its dedicated efforts to alleviate poverty among the most vulnerable segments of society.
