Agbara Grammar School in Sango-Ota,Ado-Odo/Ota Local government area of Ogun State, has  found itself at the center of chaos on February 14, 2024, as senior student Akanni Azeez Olawale, with LIN 2018C140030233, along with his irate parents, allegedly unleashed mayhem in protest of the school’s alleged seizure of his uniform.

The situation escalated into a shocking display of violence, with the student physically assaulting a teacher and tearing the Principal’s clothes.

The tumultuous incident unfolded when the parents accused the School’s Principal of wrongfully confiscating their son’s uniform.

The Principal clarified that Akanni, having registered for his WASSCE at another school, could no longer claim to be a student at Agbara Grammar School.

The attempt at a peaceful resolution was met with vehement rejection from the enraged parents, leading to a tumultuous attack on the Principal and an unfortunate episode where the student slapped a teacher and tore their clothes.

It was gathered that in the aftermath of the confrontation, the father hurriedly reported the incident to Zone B authorities, prompting the school to take proactive measures.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the  school authorities promptly informed both the Baale of the community and the Agbara Police Station, initiating swift action.

It was learnt that law enforcement acted promptly, apprehending the student, his mother, and a family friend before the father’s return.

PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that the  case was subsequently transferred to Zone B, revealing that the matter had already been reported at the appropriate quarters.

Reacting to the shocking events, the  Commissioner for Education, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu, reportedly  condemned the barbaric act,

Arigbabu emphasised  that the perpetrators must face the consequences of their actions.

Also reacting to the development, Dr. Agbesanwa Oluwaseun, the State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), expressed profound dismay, articulating a zero-tolerance policy for such incidents within the educational system.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that in response to the severity of the situation, the Commissionerfor Education  has mandated the initiation of legal proceedings against the lawbreakers, underscoring the commitment to justice.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that  the incident sends shockwaves through the educational community and prompts a critical examination of the delicate balance between discipline and respect within schools.
