The Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) said it has entered into partnership with governorship aspirant Segun Showunmi second edition of the Ogun SWAN Media Cup.
The SWAN Media Cup is a 5-Aside football competition to foster unity and strengthen relationships among journalists in Ogun state.
The first edition featured sixteen media organizations with the Broadcast Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, conquering others in the media football battle.
According to the association, Showunmi expressed his readiness to sponsor the second edition of the media cup when the SWAN Executives led by Hakeem Akintunde paid him a courtesy visit at his Ibara GRA residence.
The secretary of the association, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji who disclosed this in a statement said preparations are in place to host the tourney in Ogun between June 1st and 8th 2023.
Ogunsiji said “the association has secured a sponsorship deal with sports enthusiast, a public affairs analyst, and Ogun State PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Segun Showunmi.
“According to Chief Showunmi, sports remain a unifying factor, and as such should be treated as a top-tier sector. He expressed readiness to be part of the highly anticipated media event while urging SWAN to organize a memorable competition.”
He added that the date of draws and guidelines will be communicated soon.
