A prominent advocacy group, the Ogun West Initiative (OWI), has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for the successful upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro.

The commendation followed the announcement by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday that President Tinubu had signed the bill into law.

The bill, which had its first reading nearly nine years ago, was sponsored by Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

In a statement issued Wednesday night, OWI described the development as “heartwarming and sweet news” for the people of Yewa-Awori and the entire Ogun West.

“The assent to this bill is a testament to vision, passion and unflinching commitment to people-focused leadership,” the Convener of the group, Mr. Bolaji Adeniji, said.

Adeniji noted that the newly approved university is the first federal institution of its kind in the region, describing it as a milestone achievement that will enhance educational opportunities and drive socio-economic growth in the area.

“The value chain of a university community cannot be overstated, and we can only salivate at the shining prospects.

This latest intervention by Senator Olamilekan Adeola is a further demonstration of his progressive and unprecedented representation,” Adeniji stated.

According to him, the transformation aligns with OWI’s core mission of promoting initiatives that drive development in Ogun West.

“As he continues to raise the bar of stellar performance, we commend him and encourage him to sustain this legacy.

Indeed, Senator Adeola is steadily and sure-footedly stamping his passport for higher service,” the group added.

The OWI also gave special recognition to President Tinubu, commending him for signing the bill and aligning with the aspirations of the Ogun West people.

“We must give ultimate commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for conceding to that vision and giving his assent.

“We are further convinced that the relationship between the senator and Mr. President will always bring prosperity to Ogun State,” Adeniji said.

The group congratulated the people of Yewa-Awori and Ogun State at large, describing the development as “another feather to the cap” of the state’s growing educational credentials.
