Ondo Monarch Dispels Rumours of Bandits’ Threat To Catholic Church

The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, has dismissed reports of an imminent attack by bandits on the ancient town, particularly targeting St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

Contrary to circulating rumours that suspected bandits had threatened the church and that the Olowo’s palace was planning a security summit to address the threat, Oba Ogunoye described the stories as false and intended to create panic in the community.

Speaking to newsmen on Saturday via telephone, the traditional ruler said, “It is fake news; there is nothing like that. We have been organising security summits regularly.

The media platform that spread the story just tried to generate traffic for its platform, so there is nothing like that.”

As the Chairman of the Ondo State Traditional Rulers Council, Oba Ogunoye assured that Owo remains peaceful despite the past security challenges.

He recalled the tragic attack three years ago on Saint Francis Catholic Church, which left many dead and several injured.

The Olowo urged residents to remain calm and disregard unverified reports aimed at disturbing the peace of the ancient community.
