Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, has advised residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to stop patronising roadside transport operators.
Maikalangu gave the advice while inaugurating the Karu Motor Park on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said that such a measure would help to reduce ‘one-chance’ activities in the nation’s capital, especially as the yuletide season approached.
According to him, the newly inaugurated park has 136 packing spaces for vehicles, with other facilities like toilets, restaurants and shops.
He said that the facility was big enough to accommodate intra city and inter states transport systems.
“The park will serve so many purposes, like checkmating criminal activities and serving economic purposes, as it will attract patrons from within and outside Abuja.
“This park will serve for economic purpose and for security. It is one of the biggest park owned by the council, and it will serve as travel points for all commuters within Jikwoyi axis and its environs ” he said.
Maikalangu said that his administration would ensure provision of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
He said that security agents will be available at all times to further provide the needed security for those who wlll use the park as their traveling point.
The AMAC boss said that he had an agreement with Mr Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister to ensure the provision of such facility across the nation’s capital so as to minimise criminal activities.
“I and the FCT minister have agreed to build structures of this type in different locations within the FCT.
“I want to advise the residents going out of Abuja to their different states or even within the city to go to the parks and stop using motorists outside, ” he said.
