I got the news of mama’s departure from this plannet around 3am.
The best way to describe Mama is Obinrin bi Okunrin( a woman like a man)
She is like Iyalode Tejuoso in terms of boldness and fame in business.
We are yet to recover from the loss of Iyalode Alaba Lawson and now Cash Madam is gone.
I interacted with her several times on business and land matters, and she knows exactly what she wanted in life.
No wonder many songs came out to honour her.
To accept the name of Cash Madam is considered very risky because no one want to tell the world he or she has Cash but for her , she was fearless.
God blessed us in Egbaland with great people like Mama Funmilayo Kuti and her team Mama Soleye, Iyalode Tejuoso and Iyalode Alaba Lawson.
For many years, I kept wondering why a woman could be bold enough to live in that her white house at a time when no buildings could be found around her.
Her elegance is unequal. Even in her 80s I still wonder who makes her gele for her. Each time we meet at the Palace, you could take mama for 50 plus with her elegance.
Looking at the way mama’s children embraced giving as a Virtue and the way First August is managed; it’s clear that she succeeded in reproducing herself long before now .
I use Engr. Mutiu Adebowale as a point of contact to other family members and pray for comfort from the throne of grace.
His lifestyle of giving and hardwork is a replica of mama.He is also very social like mama.
He supported ICAN in Abeokuta like a Chartered Accountant will do, and for that reason, I call him an FCA.Friend of Chartered Accountants.
I pray that the Lord will comfort the family and all of us in Abeokuta.
I also pray that God will raise new breeds of fearless and strong women for us in Egbaland, Ogun State and Nigeria.
