Osun Gov: No Plans To Demolish Ilesa Central Mosque

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assured the Ijesa Muslim Community that there are no plans to demolish the Ilesa Central Mosque amid the ongoing dualisation of Ilesa Road.

This clarification comes in response to circulating rumours suggesting the mosque might be affected by the construction project.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke said  the concerns of the Ijesa Muslim leaders have been heard and addressed.

“Governor Adeleke has received the plea of the Ijesa Muslim leaders and has directed that fresh assurance be given that the mosque is not billed for demolition in the ongoing road dualisation,” Rasheed stated.

The Governor reassured the Muslim community, stating, “The Muslim ummah should not entertain any fear as the mosque remains intact.

“Only the extended canopies will be affected, not the main building as earlier indicated.”

To further ensure the community’s concerns are adequately addressed, Governor Adeleke has directed officials from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to engage directly with the Muslim leaders on this issue.

This engagement aims to maintain open lines of communication and transparency regarding the project’s impact on the mosque.
