The Otunba Woye and Baale Ikala, Otunba Sunday Adewale Okuwobi-Okudero, has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their immense support in making the 30th Ikala Day celebration a remarkable success.
Speaking during an interview, the traditional ruler described the event as “unique and unprecedented in the history of Ikala town.”
He commended both local and diaspora indigenes for their contributions toward the success of the celebration, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in advancing the town’s development.
Otunba Okuwobi-Okudero also acknowledged the backing of families and individuals who have been instrumental in fostering progress in Ikala.
He called for the sustenance of the newfound spirit of unity and urged all sons and daughters of the town to promptly pay their annual family levies to accelerate the completion of critical projects, including the Community Hall.
During the event, several indigent elders and orphans received grants and scholarships, underscoring the community’s commitment to welfare.
Medals and trophies were also presented to winners of the Football and Ayo competitions, adding a competitive flair to the festivities.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the 2024 Ikala Day Planning Committee, Mr. Akin Okudero, unveiled the Ikala, Ijebu-Imusin Community Website—www.ikalaijebuimusin.com—as a platform for enhanced connectivity and progress.
He expressed appreciation to the community for their unwavering support, which enabled the committee to achieve its objectives.
The Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Madegun of Itele, Chief Zadious Adewale Ahmed, urged citizens to contribute meaningfully to the town’s development.
Similarly, the Mother of the Day, Yeye Oge Linda Kuyoro Adebambo, an illustrious indigene of Ikala, lauded the organizers, expressing confidence that the event would catalyze further transformation in the community.
The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances by indigenous groups such as Epa, Okooro, and Ajani, alongside a captivating display by juveniles.
Dignitaries and guests joined in the anniversary dance, adorned in colorful community-themed attire.
The inclusion of youth activities added energy to the event, with a Youth Carnival drawing massive participation from Ikala and neighboring towns.
