Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria and Senior Pastor of the Word of Life Bible Church, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has sparked widespread reactions on social media following a video in which he was seen offering what he described as “anointed mantles” for sale at $5,000 each.
In the video, which surfaced online on Thursday, Oritsejafor was shown addressing a
congregation and calling out individuals who were willing to purchase the mantles, reportedly limited to 90 persons. He was heard explaining that the mantles were meant to help beneficiaries avoid what he described as “missing God.”
The development has generated intense debate across digital platforms, with critics questioning the propriety of placing a high monetary value on spiritual items, while others defended the cleric, describing the exercise as a faith-based act that should not be judged outside its religious context.
As of the time of filing this report, Oritsejafor had not issued an official statement responding to the backlash or clarifying the circumstances surrounding the video.
Pastor Oritsejafor, a prominent Pentecostal leader, served as CAN president between 2010 and 2016 and remains an influential figure in Nigeria’s Christian community.
