The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Command, has reported impressive financial performance by generating a substantial revenue of N47.40 billion for the Federation Account during the nine-month period from January to September 2023.

Additionally, the Command announced the seizure of smuggled goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) totaling N308.28 million over the same period.

In a significant development, driven by the recent deployment of Area Controllers by the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo has been assigned to take charge of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, replacing Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, who has been redeployed to the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The official handover ceremony took place on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Customs Area Command Headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Comptroller Jaiyeoba, who effectively managed the Command’s operations from February 2022 to September 2023, warmly welcomed and congratulated the incoming Customs Area Controller on his appointment to lead the Oyo/Osun Area Command.

During his tenure, Comptroller Jaiyeoba disclosed that the Command had not only surpassed its revenue target for the year 2022 but also achieved remarkable financial results for the period from January to September 2023.

The Command had successfully collected a total of N47,408,251,086.73 in revenue and seized various uncustomed goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N308,282,459.00.

He acknowledged the dedication, professionalism, and resilience exhibited by the Command’s officers and personnel, emphasizing that these qualities played a pivotal role in meeting their objectives.

Comptroller Jaiyeoba urged all officers to continue working cohesively as a team, carry out their duties in compliance with the laws governing the Nigeria Customs Service, and extend the same level of cooperation to his successor, Comptroller Oramalugo.
