In a significant stride against crime, the Oyo State Police Command proudly announced the arrest of 207 suspects for various offenses during the period from January to December 2023.

The disclosure was made by the state Commissioner of Police,

Adebola Hamzat, as 38 crime suspects were presented to the public at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan.

Commissioner Hamzat highlighted the recovery of 50 stolen vehicles and 46 motorcycles/tricycles, emphasizing the commitment of the police force in tackling criminal activities.

Additionally, a notable achievement was the retrieval of 108 firearms and 721 rounds of ammunition from the apprehended suspects.

Representing Commissioner Hamzat, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, conveyed that the arrests were made based on credible intelligence received by the state command. He stated,

“The state police command is pleased to inform residents that within the past five months, it has recorded significant successes in reducing crime rates across the state.

This was attained through a combination of intelligence-led operations, community engagements, and proactive policing.”

The recovered items include a variety of firearms such as English pump action and revolver rifles, locally made guns, as well as other possessions like cars, charms, and ammunition.

The state police command’s efforts reflect a strategic approach to ensuring the safety and security of residents through diligent law enforcement measures.
