Over 3,000 young leaders from across Africa converged at Babcock University, Ogun State, from December 23 to 28, 2024, for the highly anticipated Pan African Youth Congress.
Themed “Cities for Christ,” the event aimed to foster unity, purpose, and spiritual renewal among African youth, culminating in a transformative five-day experience.
Organized by the East-Central Africa, Southern Africa Indian Ocean, and West Central Africa Divisions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the congress featured a diverse programme that included plenary sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and worship services.
Delegates engaged in enriching discussions and cultural exchanges, celebrating Africa’s rich heritage while addressing critical societal issues through the lens of faith.
Renowned speakers and thought leaders from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, both within and beyond Africa, delivered impactful messages, challenging participants to reclaim their cities for Christ and become agents of transformation.
The congress emphasized practical evangelism, as delegates reached out to the Ilishan-Remo community through a book distribution rally, spreading messages of hope and love.
Artistic expressions played a pivotal role, with music, spoken word, and art exhibitions showcasing the creative talents of African youth, further enriching the event’s atmosphere.
In his closing remarks, Pastor Busi Khumalo, Director of Youth Ministries at the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, described the congress as a “defining moment” for a generation.
He stated, “We have been empowered, equipped, and inspired to take ownership of our cities and our continent. We will return to our respective nations, armed with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to transforming Africa for Christ.”
