In  a significant development, 39-year-old Pastor Michael Ogundepo has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in a visa scam worth N1.6 million.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, disclosed that the suspect was arrested while attempting to collect a substantial sum of N3 million for a visa-related job.

According to DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ogundepo, residing at No. 15 Ewu Agbo street, Ikorodu, Lagos, received N1.67 million from one Miss Fagbuyiro Ajetomobi-Yemi, promising to secure a visa for her.

However, he withheld both the money and her passport for an extended period, preventing her from pursuing alternative visa options.

The PRO further revealed that the suspect repeatedly evaded invitations from the authorities, even resorting to using a fake international number to communicate with the complainant, feigning that he was abroad.

Ogundepo’s arrest came as a result of a bait operation, where he was lured to collect N3 million for a visa job, unknowingly falling into the authorities’ trap.

The ongoing investigation has exposed his involvement in duping several other unsuspecting clients.

The pastor now faces potential legal consequences under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol. 1 of Ondo State, 2006, and will be presented before the court upon the completion of the investigation.
