A patient, identified as Saba Elizabeth, is now the focus of the Ogun State Police Command after fleeing the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba Abeokuta due to unpaid medical bills.
Elizabeth, who sought treatment for an undisclosed ailment, absconded on Saturday, unable to settle her financial obligations for the medical care she received.
Admitted to the gynecology ward on November 11, 2023, Elizabeth was slated for discharge on November 16, 2023.
Unfortunately, her departure was stalled as she grappled with the inability to fulfill her financial commitment to the medical centre.
In a desperate attempt, Elizabeth allegedly misled hospital staff, stating her intention to purchase food at a nearby store, only to never return.
As exhaustive efforts to locate her proved fruitless, the Chief Security Officer, Akpoji Joshua, reported the incident to the Kemta Police Division on Sunday.
