Prominent businesswoman and socialite, Princess Khadijat Abike Adebisi Edionseri, popularly known as ‘Cash Madam,’ has passed away at the age of 89, drawing an outpouring of tributes from Nigerians, including Chief Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his heartfelt tribute, Showunmi described the late Cash Madam as a paragon of elegance, grace, and sophistication.
“A beautiful soul through and through has departed. Inna lilahi wallahi raijun,” he began, reflecting on her enduring legacy.
“Cash Madam was elegant, she was beautiful, she was stylish, and she epitomized every inch of sophisticated royalty.
She was a devoted Muslim with many titles, including the Iya Suna of Egbaland. She has been around like forever, for the limelight loved her, and she basked in it till the very end,” he said.
Renowned for her impeccable fashion sense, Cash Madam was often seen as the epitome of poise and glamour.
Showunmi lauded her love for hosting parties and attending high-profile events, noting her significant presence in Nigeria’s social circles.
“If there was a female version of Kabiyesi, that was who she was—royalty personified,” he added.
A celebrated figure in the entertainment world, Cash Madam was immortalized in the classic song Bisilola Edionseri Cash Madam ti wa, Cash Cash ape Kanuko Owo Owo by the legendary Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. The song, which extolled her wealth and influence, remains a testament to her iconic status.
Showunmi concluded his tribute by extending condolences to her family and loved ones. “May the Lord comfort her children, her family, her loved ones, and all who knew of such an iconic woman. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.”
