In a resolute stand to uphold democracy and protect the rights of the people of Ogun State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun has vowed to continue its battle to restore power to the state’s citizens.
The party’s commitment comes in the wake of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to strike out their petition against Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a verdict that the PDP vehemently rejects.
At a press conference addressed by the PDP Chairman in Ogun, Sikirulahi Ogundele, the party expressed its profound disappointment regarding the tribunal’s judgment, which it deemed a miscarriage of justice primarily based on technicalities rather than a comprehensive and unbiased evaluation of the evidence and allegations presented in their petition.
The PDP’s case was grounded in detailed and compelling evidence, including allegations of over-voting, voters’ disenfranchisement, harassment of voters, and ballot box snatching.
These allegations were supported by credible testimonies and substantial documentation.
The party underscored the importance of an impartial and thorough examination of these claims to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
Ogundele emphasized that their pursuit of legal action was driven by a dedication to upholding the will of the people of Ogun State and safeguarding democracy against manipulation or irregularities.
Despite the setback at the tribunal, the PDP made it clear that they would not be deterred and would take the matter to the appellate courts.
“We have decided to take this matter to the appellate courts, where we believe a more thorough and impartial assessment of the evidence and allegations will take place.
We are resolute in our determination to ensure that the truth is revealed and that the will of the people prevails. Relief is surely on the way,” Ogundele declared.
In a concluding statement, the PDP stated firmly, “We will fight hard to restore Power to the People of Ogun State,” reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the democratic process and the rights of the citizens they represent.
As this legal battle unfolds, the future of Ogun State’s governance remains uncertain, with the PDP determined to pursue justice until their mission is accomplished.
