In a harrowing incident, a 22-year-old kidnapper, Ismail Adamu, has confessed to kidnapping and killing 14-year-old Abdullahi Sani before demanding a N4 million ransom from the grieving parents.
The tragic victim happened to be Ismail’s neighbor’s son.
Ismail recounted to the police the gruesome details of the abduction, revealing that he took the young boy to a secluded area, fatally stabbed him in the neck, and callously threw his lifeless body into a soakaway.
Subsequently, he initiated negotiations for a ransom of N4 million from the victim’s father, aided by two accomplices who facilitated the process with a cell phone and other logistics for a seemingly “smooth” negotiation.
The horrifying saga took a turn when the victim’s father, Rabi’u Abdullahi, made a distress call to the police, reporting that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom for the release of his kidnapped son.
This call led to the prompt arrest of Ismail and two of his accomplices.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel, swiftly ordered immediate police action upon receiving the distress call, resulting in the successful apprehension of the culprits.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Ismail Adamu, aged 22 years, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano, on February 12, 2024.
“Ismail confessed to conspiring with one Risi of Mariri Quarters Kano to kidnap the victim,” stated the Command spokesperson, Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to Ismail’s chilling confession, they took the victim to Sabuwar Zara Village, where the heinous crime unfolded.
The police visited the crime scene, recovering the deceased’s body from the soakaway.
The body was subsequently evacuated to Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital Kano, where a medical doctor certified the victim dead, depositing the body at the hospital’s mortuary.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects: Musa Usman, aged 17, and Abdullahi Usman, aged 20, both from Hotoron Fulani Quarters Kano.
These individuals assisted the principal suspect in negotiating the ransom using a mobile phone.
The suspects will face charges in court upon the completion of the investigation.
CP Gumel expressed gratitude to the citizens for their support and cooperation, affirming the Kano State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to combatting crime and criminality in the state.
