The Lagos State Police Command, through officers from the Akinpelu Division, has apprehended a 52-year-old physically-challenged man, Adamu Ileyasu, on suspicion of drug dealing.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement shared on his social media account on Friday.
According to Hundeyin, concerned citizens alerted the police about Ileyasu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking. Upon his arrest, a search of his belongings revealed quantities of suspected Indian hemp and tramadol capsules.
An ongoing investigation aims to identify Ileyasu’s supplier and other individuals involved in the drug supply chain.
This arrest echoes a similar incident in November 2023 when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency apprehended a physically-challenged drug dealer, Godwin Emuneyin, who used his wheelchair as a cover for his illicit activities in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Lagos State Police Command continues its efforts to combat drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and security of residents.
