Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has strongly criticized the Federal Government, citing a “lack of political will” to address the persistent threat of marauding terrorists in the state.

Speaking on the development on a TV programme,Mutfwang expressed dismay over the insurgents’ prolonged occupation of schools in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area for the past five years without intervention.

Highlighting the alarming escalation of the crisis in Plateau, Governor Mutfwang pointed out that the absence of arrests by security agents has contributed to the continuing violence.

He particularly lamented the “unprovoked” simultaneous attacks on over 15 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas during Christmas Eve, resulting in over 115 casualties, numerous injuries, and the destruction of hundreds of homes.

“We must stop this carnage,” Mutfwang emphasized, urging a shift from reactive to proactive security strategies.

He revealed the dire situation in Barkin-Ladi Local Government, where schools have been under terrorist occupation for years, leading to the displacement of at least 64 communities and the usurpation of their lands.

Governor Mutfwang pledged to engage with President Bola Tinubu, seeking clear instructions for security agents to protect Plateau residents from land-grabbing assailants.

He stressed the urgent need for political will to safeguard the territorial and internal integrity of Nigeria’s land boundaries.
