Police have arraigned a 19-year-old man, Uwanu Emmanuel, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting two police officers before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court
Emmanuel, who was arraigned on Wednesday, was facing a two-count charge of assault.
According to the police inspector, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, the defendant and others at large committed the offence at 8.30 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
He also alleged that the defendants assaulted one Insp Adepoju Adewunmi and injured him.
“The defendant and one other at large also assaulted one Sgt. Duduyegbe Olatunbosun, while performing his lawful duty,” he said.
In his words, the offences is against Sections 186 and 187(a) of the Criminal Laws of EKiti State 2021.
However, the defendant pleaded innocent to the charge preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, therefore granted the defendant bail of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He further adjourned the case till April 26 for hearing.
